Not a great product

I'm disappointed in the microwave as it was damaged when I received it, even the styrofoam packing was busted. My husband bent out most of the dents and we hoped it would be okay. Now I've noticed when I turn on the surface light, the light gets super hot very quick, like within minutes of turning it on. It's just not a great product.

Reheat option confusing. No guidance for the food

Reheat feature is different than previous model. Don™€™t like that the type of food is not referenced when trying to reheat. Used to be #3 was for reheating vegetables. So confusing- will not buy this model again.

I recently had to replace my microwave oven and I like the new one alright. I do miss one of the features my other microwave had - energy saver - where I could program the clock to turn off. Other than that I am satisfied with my purchase, especially that I was able to get it in Bisque to match my other appliances.

VERY Poor Quality, Done with GE Appliances

GE appliance quality has continued to go completely downhill. This is only bisque model they make so forced to buy. Loved our prior model (had steam clean, 4 fan settings, was durable & much quieter). Everything worked on old 1 except it suddenly wouldn™€™t heat. Spent hundreds trying to fix since they only make this bisque. Appl Repair replaced magnetron, transformer, computer board & fuses. Nothing fixed it. This new model is so incredibly chincy. Door is such thin plastic I feel like it™€™s going to break everytime I open & close it. Not sure which genius at GE thought 1 light vs 2 with a light off center illuminating stovetop was a good design. Clock #s are too large & blindingly bright white unlike prior models which are small green. When micro runs, it™€™s SO loud. Pd nearly as much to have installed as purch price ($480 total) & not worth it. There™€™s NOTHING we like about this micro & ditto for new GE washer that constantly gets out of balance, jumps around room, won™€™t drain & techs say is ™€˜working as designed™€™. Done w/GE after 40 yrs of brand loyalty. (Unable to upload audio recording I took of how loud it is when it runs).

The features and capacity are enough for my needs. Controls are easy enough to follow. Similar to other microwaves I have had. Love the bisque color. Goes well with my cabinets. Stainless Steel seems very sterile to me. I hope it holds up. Door sounds a little rickety to me. There is a plastic film over the controls wearing off in one spot. I™€™m afraid to peel it off. I™€™m hoping it™€™s a temporary covering.

Bisque is hard to find

We bought the exact same microwave in Bisque because we liked the old one (which lasted 9 years). The door of the new one makes more noise when you shut it and seems more tinny. The glass plate on the new one squeaks and makes noise as it goes around. Otherwise, it is nice. The installers had a difficult time lining up the vent in the back so GE must have redesigned where the hole is. We did not want it to vent out the front above the door.

Quality Assurance Failure

Product was shipped incomplete. While attempting installation it was determined that only one of the microwave to cabinet installation nuts was inplace. The other installation nut was missing completely. The other was inplace and working fine. The quality assurane failure allowed for an unsafe condition if installed with only one attach point utilized.

Great ventilation while using microwave

Works well - love that the ventilation activates while the microwave is in use. No more sweaty, damp interior of microwave after cooking a dish of oatmeal. Minor Negatives: I would have liked a way to dim the digital display which is *very* bright -- brilliant white numerals. Also, my 20+ year old previous OTR microwave had a feature to turn off the Sound, which was nice so I didn't have to hear bleeping sounds while pressing buttons. Overall: Very happy with my purchase, especially since the improved ventilation system definitely outweighs the minor negatives.

I am writing this for me and my husband. To replace our almost 20 year old microwave when key operating elements went bad. There was a repairman who gave it 2 realistic tries. Beyond essentials like measurement and inside vent he wanted certain features like a handle and interior space and I wanted a color match. For me its just a reheater for leftovers. Sometimes popcorn. We both wanted reasonable price. With recent microwaves the lifespan is far shorter so spending more than double than this one did not to us represent an upgrade in quality or longevity. We got what we wanted considering options. For that it gets 5 stars For contemporary construction and material quality its average but definitely inferior to our old one which is husband™€™s biggest beef. Installation simple. Faster than unboxing and removing stuff from cabinet above. A second person is necessary to help heft it up onto bottom bracket and hold it up while top mount screws go in. I personally am praying (for real) that it defies and outlives planned obsolescence.

Paper Template is backwards

While hubby is not new to installing OTR microwaves considering this is our 3rd GE OTR since 2011, (GE profile in 2011, GE model JVM3160DF4CC in 2019 because the unit randomly started running - can you say fire hazard? and now this model, JVM3160DF9CC) the paper template included in the box was backwards. Good thing he™€™s installed so many in the past, but sadly didn™€™t realize it was backwards until we already drilled another set of holes even though we replaced this model with the EXACT same model from 2019! This will be the last GE OTR I have him install as next time I™€™m going to a countertop model and another brand.

I'm very disappointed with this microwave. No user manual included. Went to the website to at least look at a manual and was given the comment back, MODEL number not found. No instruction on how to reheat, nothing that tells me what the codes mean on the pad. Nothing that gives what power level to use when melting anything. Takes for ever to boil 2 cups of water for instant coffee. Takes longer to defrost frozen meat than my previous one. Just overall very disappointed with it. And now I can't submit my review because I don't have a picture to include!!

I bought the same model as my last one. Turned out the mounting holes were different so I had to drill new ones. One of the main reasons I bought it was so I could just pull out the old one and slide in the new one. As I was doing it alone, discovering the mounting holes were moved while holding it in place with one arm and trying to screw in the bolts from above was a challenge. The mounting template was correct. I (wrongly) assumed the holes would align. The "reheat" selection used to display "pizza, soup, etc., when pressed. Now it says rh1, rh2... I have to refer to the manual to see what these stand for. WHY? The new one requires more time to heat the same food/portion. A one minute cook is no longer enough for the exact same item. It appears to be lower power even though the specs are the same. The sound it makes is different and sounds somehow cheaper or less robust - not quieter. Just tinnier. Basically, while in general it appears to be the same machine, it is not. It's clearly a cheaper version of the same microwave.

I replaced my other microwave that I only had for about 8 years with this one that I just bought. It was supposed to be the same exact model as my prior one but this one is made so poorly. It is totally made of plastic and the door is like paper. I am very disappointed with this version of my prior microwave. This one is a piece of junk. The quality is far inferior to the version I had prior. I am very disappointed in the workmanship of this unit. I will be lucky if it lasts me 5 years much less 8 like the one before. They absolutely do it make appliances like they used to at all. Not worth the money I spent on it.

Bought this to replace an older version for our over the range microwave. The bisque color is somewhat limited. This fits perfectly. The only thing I would suggest is that the GE emblem be moved to the lower left panel instead of the top which makes it look off-center because of the door. It IS centered under my cabinets. I was also used to the Surface light and add 30 seconds buttons where they were. Getting adjusted now.

Wattage of 1,000 could be a bit larger, but acceptable Installation was done very professionally and arrival was on time. Very good service! Controls set up same as old unit which was replaced since time panel started loosing light segments making understanding the message difficult. Ventilation seems an upgrade over replaced microwave.
