This fridge has been loud since I bought it a couple years ago. Leveling tweaks didn™€™t help, sometimes it gets extra noisy and I can get it to just be regular noisy by shaking it. Lately it has been super noisy and nothing seems to help. Piece of crap.

We like some of the attributes of this model, like the compact ice maker. We are concerned about the temperature evenness throughout the fridge; our thermometer shows mixed results in different parts of the space. Also, the crisper drawer collects moisture, which I wasn't expecting. In terms of capacity, t's more spacious than other models in the market, but still wish it provided more flexibility, like a split shelf for taller pots. I was expecting the cooler drawer to have temperature adjustments, like similar models do (and our old fridge). It's also missing the smaller storage compartment in the freezer drawer door. So, now, the space feels unusable (and we have a lot of groceries to store). This is a good option for someone that needs a basic fridge. For heavy users and homecooks, it may not be the best option and some things that used to be standard, now they aren't.

Doesn't stand by their product or their word

This refrigerator stopped working without warning after 2 years. Service repair was attempted and after trying to replace the circuit board and another part, it was determined that the refrigerator was not repairable. I contacted customer relations (as instructed by GE Service Center). I was given a quote for the same refrigerator at a discounted rate but only 1 would be available by 8/31/26, therefore they could not gaurantee when it would be shipped. I was given a second quote for a different model that could ship right away for a lesser price. I excepted the second option, but was told that the payment center was closed and I would have to call the next day to make payment. When I called to make payment, I was told that the price was $300. more than I was originally quoted. Even though the quotes and confirmations were documented through email, I was told "Sorry". So just beware, it may seem like the company stands by their product, but they don't and they don't stand by their word either. Extremely disappointed in this product and how this situation has been handled. It still has not been resolved and my emails go unanswered.

I was satisfied with our refrigerator until ice started forming around the ice making door and it's gasket. I searched the online parts list and found that the gasket was not sold separately but, was included in the door assembly. So instead of it being about a $10 part, it's $136 for the door assembly. I called the GE parts help line number, and all they would do was give me a percentage off on the part for the door, still over a $100 for the gasket. I have all GE appliances and I'm disappointed that GE would include a gasket as part of a major assembly.

I'm not thrilled with this refrigerator. It is large, which is great, but the bottom drawer of the refrigerator is only accessible with both doors open. There is an almost constant vibrating rattle from the water/ice dispenser tray. The TC (turbo cool feature) is a complete lie, doesn't do anything at all. The doors are difficult to close, you have to push way too hard to get past the 'catch point'. The freezer drawers are hard to open and squeal when opening and closing. I'm really sorry I went with GE. They had a good reputation for a long time, but I think that's about over.

1st issue I have with this is thst GE doesn't have any over the phone troubleshooting, aside from "try unplugging it for 5 mins." Our fridge has had issues since day 1. It randomly stops making ice and we constantly have to reset it. The climate control drawer keeps freezing our food. We have tried all the recommended things the internet suggests. Now we will have to pay $115 for a technician to come out. Oh, and the ice goes everywhere so we keep a paper towel on there to absorb water. Go with LG. They have great customer support and have actual technicians on the phone.

Had this unit for about a year. The design and layout of the shelves are poor. Makes it difficult to fit items in at times. Produce drawers are terrible as veggies get moldy or degrade quickly. Ice bin is to small. And now the freezer doesn™€™t keep things frozen. Worst fridge I™€™ve had.

Broke within 5 years of having it. Warranty company (assurant) is horrible! Not helpful at all and don't everything they can to not help us. Warranty sent a tech out 5 times in 6 months. Replaced compressor among other fixes and not that it needs replacing, it's a blame game and no one will take responsibility for the replacement.

After 2.5 years, the refrigerator needs to have the complete sealed system replaced. It is NOT covered under a 5-year warranty because it doesn't apply to this model. It only applies to Profile and above lines. They offered a discounted replacement refrigerator a $2022, which is higher than what I can purchase at most retailers. And the "point of need plan", which is a type of warranty, is not available in my area. The cost of the fix is estimated at $980. GE doesn't care about its customers.

Repair man came out today and said he would have to order a new ice maker since the one in the frig was not working and needed to be replaced. I purchased a GE refrigerator (Model GFE28GYNIFS) in May 2023 from Lowe's. Less than three years later, the compressor failed completely ™€" a known and widespread issue that is currently the subject of active federal litigation. What followed was nearly a month of no refrigerator, broken promises, and a complete failure of GE's customer service and repair network. Here is what I experienced: ™€ GE's own service locator returned no technicians in my area capable of servicing this model ™€" yet GE sells this unit in my market. ™€ GE's authorized repair contractor, Florida Appliance Solutions, made a series of errors including sending the parts email to me instead of GE, causing additional shipping delays. ™€ After waiting weeks, a new compressor was installed on May 1. The technician told me there were no leaks and the unit was fine. Within 48 hours the compressor had not shut off and the refrigerator was warming. Ice was melting. Food was being lost. ™€ A second technician came out on May 5 and revealed that the first technician had detected a pressure drop when recharging the system ™€" and said nothing to me about it. This critical finding was also omitted from Florida Appliance Solutions' service notes submitted to GE. ™€ GE refused to provide a no-cost replacement. Their best offer was a discount on a new unit with a 7-10 day delivery window ™€" after my family had already gone nearly a month without a refrigerator. GE sells substandard appliances in markets where they cannot support them, authorizes contractors who perform substandard work and omit critical findings, and then refuses to make it right when their own product fails prematurely. I am exploring all additional legal remedies available to me. Do not buy GE appliances.

Our refrigerator is less than 3 years old and no longer cools to the right temperature in the fridge and doesn™€™t actually freeze anything in the freezer. We™€™ve had to move all of our freezer food to our deep freeze. We™€™ve had 3 different appliance repairmen come and take a look, and reported it to GE/HAIER. They gave us the round about, saying they™€™d pay for parts and service but couldn™€™t find anyone in our area to fix it. After going radio silent for months, I reached out again to find they had closed my case without actually fixing it. We bought 6 major appliances from GE in a matter of 6 months (fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer) and 3 of them have had issues within 3 years of owning them.

Okay Fridge

This refrigerator looks nice and has good capacity. It is basically what you need from a fridge; it keeps things cold, makes ice, and has filtered water. What I am displeased with is the quality of its build. Door seals don't look good and already appear to not fit well. I haven't figured out how to check the actual temperature in the fridge and freezer (it will only display what it is set at). My old GE Profile fridge had an extra freezer basket in the door.

Right from the start I knew this was a bad purchase. The refrigerator could not hold its temperature and it was repaired soon after with new doors as they would not seal. Few months later, a fix to the compressor and now two years in total the compressor is failing. Terrible refrigerator and terrible company for not providing a new one on what was clearly defective product.

GE - Lousy Product and even worse Service.

Brand new and still paying for this and it dies while we were away. 10 months old. We wait a week for service and the guy shows up with no parts. Now we wait another two weeks with no refrigerator. When our LG compressor died, we waited a few day and he came first time with parts and fixed it. GE quality is poor and their lousy service matches their lousy quality. Buyer, beware. Never again.

Some Great Features

Where the water filter is located makes half of the top shelve unadjustable is a poor design flaw. Removing the protective plastic film around the doors was a nightmare. I do like the large door storage bins and pull open design of the drawers. The option of adding a second ice maker was the main reason I chose the refrig. Love the finger resitance finish.

I got this GE refrigerator because my old GE freezer suddenly not working and water dispenser also stop not working. Me personally want to get another GE refrigerator because my old fridge is lasting for 15 years and this refrigerator I love it because I have more space to put anything comparing with my old fridge. The other thing I love this refrigerator because the design is simple and really good plus the setting very easy to use it.

DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR!! I purchased it in late October, not one time used the water out of the door, did use ice a few times but now it won™€™t work because I ™€œneed a new filter™€. The thing is brand new and they want over $50 for a new filter that I rarely use. It™€™s got to be some sort of scan. It should go buy the amount of water it has filtered but cearly it doesn™€™t.

We bought this refrigerator to replace a GE Profile that came with the house we bought. We loved the older refrigerator for several reasons, one of them being the Precise Fill function to measure out filtered water. We are disappointed that the compressor went out on that fridge in only 13 years. GE seems to be the only manufacturer that offers a wide open storage area in the top of the fridge where the icemaker is in the door and doesn't take up half of the inside. We like that about this model and that it is so similar to the other one we had. We are disappointed that the Precise Fill now seems to only be offered on the much more expensive cafe models. I also do not like that the doors don't swing shut easily like the last one. They almost have to be pushed closed for the last two inches. I love the idea of the fingerprint resistant finish, so we will see how that holds up! Hoping we get more than 13 years out of this one.
